Apple has launched new versions of iPhone, Apple Watch and AirPods Pro. Procano provides a quick and straightforward overview of the key highlights – from health features and crash detection to improved cameras and battery life.

Apple Watch

First up was the new Apple Watch. In total, three new models were unveiled: Apple Watch SE, Apple Watch Series 8 and Apple Watch Ultra.

Among the new features was one you hope never to need: Crash Detection. Crash Detection utilises a new, powerful gyroscope and accelerometer, alongside other sensors and advanced algorithms, to detect a potential car crash. In such an event, it will attempt to make contact with the user and then, if necessary, call the emergency services with location details, which are also shared with emergency contacts.

The next generation of the "mainline", Apple Watch Series 8, also introduces new health features, including a temperature sensor. Two, to be precise. One on the inside to measure the user's temperature, and one facing outwards to compensate for the ambient temperature. This facilitates important new advanced women's health features, among other capabilities.

Apple Watch Ultra is built for those who require a watch capable of withstanding intense activities in extreme environments. In short, alongside the features mentioned earlier: the largest display, the biggest battery, a titanium case, and specially engineered straps for rugged activities in water, sand and snow. Phew!

AirPods Pro

Next, we were introduced to the new AirPods Pro, which feature significantly improved active noise cancellation, a new XS ear tip option, and volume control directly on the earbuds themselves. The new case now also includes a built-in speaker in case it slips deep into your rucksack and you need to "ping" it from your phone. We know that many of our users rely on AirPods Pro daily for both personal and business phone calls, and this upgrade is very welcome.

iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro

Yes, we saved the iPhones until last, just as Apple did during their keynote. iPhone 14 launches with an improved dual-camera system designed to capture even better photos in low light, Crash Detection, and a new 6.7-inch Plus size offering the best battery life ever in an iPhone.

However, the real star of the show was iPhone 14 Pro (pictured above). With an entirely new display and a powerful triple-camera system, this is bound to be a device we will see across many of our users in the near future. The display is now always-on. So, with the phone sitting on your desk, you can quickly glance down and view your relevant information. The screen is also the brightest on any smartphone, making it ideal for sunny days. Furthermore, the camera and top speaker have been integrated into a dedicated section that will actively display information about ongoing phone calls or directions to your next exit en route to a meeting.

The new camera system on iPhone 14 Pro now features a 48 MP main sensor, as well as improved telephoto, ultra-wide, and front-facing cameras. We could talk endlessly about "quad-pixel" binning equivalent to 2.44 µm, ProRAW and an ƒ/1.78 aperture, but the key takeaway is this:
Photos are noticeably improved across all conditions, especially in medium to low light, along with substantially better zoom capabilities.

It is also worth noting that particularly intriguing technology was showcased in the form of satellite connectivity. The technology is very promising, but the feature will not be available in Norway at launch.
